Search engine optimization

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Typically, the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.
As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
The acronym "SEO" can also refer to "search engine optimizers," a term adopted by an industry of consultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTML source code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site development and design. The term "search engine friendly" may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems and shopping carts that are easy to optimize.
Another class of techniques, known as black hat SEO or Spamdexing, use methods such as link farms and keyword stuffing that degrade both the relevance of search results and the user-experience of search engines. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques in order to remove them from their indices. Read More

Avira Antivirus

Avira AntiVir Personal is for personal use only and free of charge. Like most antivirus software, it scans disks for malware and also runs as a background process, checking each opened and closed file. It can detect and possibly remove rootkits.[1] It also performs Internet updates (daily by default) in which it opens a window, with an advertisement suggesting that the user purchase Avira AntiVir Premium. Avira updated all their products to version 9.0 as of March 2009.
As a free service, Avira offers a bootable rescue CD to all users, regardless of whether they have any Avira products installed (free or non-free), and irrespective of the machine's operating system. This CD contains its own bootable Linux-based operating system as well as the AntiVir program and its latest virus database. If a computer cannot be booted, the CD may be used to boot the machine into the AntiVir program, then to scan for and remove detectable viruses and other malware, thereby possibly restoring normal boot and operation.

Avira AntiVir Premium has several improvements over the free version, most notably:
Email scanning (POP3 and SMTP)
WebGuard to block access to malicious sites

Beta-VDF and Beta-Engine

All Avira virus definition files (VDFs) and the Avira search engine are thoroughly tested before they are made available on the download servers. This test period does of course broaden the time span between putting new detection patterns into the VDF or new exploits into the engine and their publication.

However, there might be certain scenarios in which it is primarily important to get the most recent VDFs and engine versions as early as possible. For such cases Avira provides untested, so called Beta-VDFs and Beta-Engine versions for downloading.
